Slim's Circle

Slim's Circle

In the 1930s, a young Jackson Hole ranch foreman by the name of W.C. “Slim” Lawrence began collecting important cultural artifacts along the north shore of Jackson Lake. With assistance from archaeologists, these artifacts helped form a preliminary understanding of early human occupation in Jackson Hole extending back 11,000 years. Slim continued to collection prehistoric and historical artifacts related to Jackson Hole, and in 1958, Slim teamed up with local businessman, Homer Richards, to establish the Jackson Hole Museum to house his growing cultural collections. Today the Jackson Hole Historical Society and Museum, honors Slim's legacy and continues to collect, preserve, and share the cultural and related natural history of this special place. Be a History Hero and join Slim's Circle today to help sustain the museum for many years to come!
